9 year old wins double Gold at National Skating Championship

At the 54th National Roller Skating Championship held in Bengaluru, Anvi Satish Andhale, a nine year old girl from New Panvel won double Gold in the 8-10 age category.

“She is the only girl from Maharashtra who bagged 2 gold medals from Raigad district at national level,” said her coach Rahul Rane, who resides in Pune.

Her achievement is all the more remarkable as Navi Mumbai does not have a skating rink. “Anvi practices early in the morning alongside Khandeshwar railway station road. On weekends, we take her to Pune to practice at the skating rink in Kasarsai, where her coach teaches her finer techniques,” says her father, Satish Andhale.

A student of New Horizon Public School, Khanda colony, New Panvel, Anvi has participated in many skating competitions all over India. In 2012-13, she won two Gold medals at the state level competition held in Nagpur by Skating Association of Maharashtra.

Again in 2014-15 at the CBSC West zone competition, she bagged two Gold medals. She bagged fourth place in the CBSC National championship held in Sonipat, Haryana.

In the 27th Maharashtra state roller skating championship, Anvi bagged one Gold and one Silver medals. Again this year in CBSC South zone skating championship held in Tirupati, Tamilnadu, Anvi won Silver medal, while at the district level School Game Federation, she won two Gold medals.
