Mouma Das and Manika Batra, the new women’s doubles pair of India, created history by reaching the semi-finals for the first time at an ITTF World Tour (Major) in the Czech Open Table Tennis tournament. Although they lost in the semi finals against Dolgikh Maria and Mikhailova Polina from Russia by 3-1 they gave a tough fight to the Russian pair.

Batra and Das made a positive start in the semi-final against Polina Mikhailova and Maria Dolgikh, taking the first set 11-8. However, the Russia duo came back strongly in the match to win the next three sets, thus ensuring their passage in the finals.

Earlier, in the quarter final they beat Mantz Chantal and Wan Yuan from Germany by 3-2. Just before this Czech Open this Indian duo reached quarter final in Bulgaria Open also.
